For the amateurs that are just learning to play this game, apart from knowing the rules, it is also very important to learning about the different kinds of bets that can be placed. This article details the type of bets known as the inside bets.
No matter whichever version of roulette you are playing, two of the most common types of bets which can be placed are the inside bets and the outside bets. The first type of bets are very common and are most frequently placed throughout the game. One of the reasons behind this is the big payouts compared to the outside bets. Some of the common types of inside bets are “single number bet”, “split bet”, “corner bet”, “street bet”, “5 number bet” and the “double street bet”.
The payouts for the single number bet is the highest at 35:1 where the players bet on a single number. This is one of the hardest bets and the probability of winning this kind of a bet is low. In French, single bets are called “en plein”.
In a split bet the player bets on two numbers. The payout for a split bet is 17:1 and it is made by placing the chips on the line between the 2 numbers on the roulette table. This is a popular live roulette bet and is known as a “cheval” in French.
Another inside bet where the bet is placed on three numbers is the street bet. The payout for a street bet is 11:1 and is called a “transversale” in French.
As the name suggests, the corner bet is made by placing the chips at the junction of 4 boxes, the bet is placed on 4 numbers and has a payout of 8:1. In French this bet is called the “carre”. In the single zero version of roulette, the bet placed on 0, 1, 2 and 3, i.e. the first four is called “quatre premiere” in French; however, the payouts are same as corner bets.
Last but not the least is the double street and here the player bets on 6 numbers. It is called “sixaine” in French and has a payout of 5:1.
