The Blackjack Hall of Fame has some of most famous people who have contributed immensely to the game. Here is a quick glance at some of the members.
A mathematician and scholar, Edward O. Thorp is one of the best known members of the Blackjack Hall of Fame. He was also called the “father of card counting” by others. He was the first person to introduce the famous “ten count system” in his book “Beat the Dealer”. The “ten count system” is the first ever winning system in blackjack and still today most of the card counting systems are inspired from this system.
Though Ken Uston passed away before the Blackjack Hall of Fame was set up, he is one of the important members. “The Big Player” written by him was a significant book which brought to the forefront the secrets of the blackjack card counting teams.
Another member in this famous club is Peter A. Griffin. He was the first person who was able to break down the card counting systems into two parts – the Playing Efficiency and the Betting Correlation. The different mathematical methods and “The Theory of Blackjack” written by him were also great contributions made by him towards this classic game.
The “godfather of blackjack”, Stanford Wong earned his place in the Blackjack Hall of Fame with his card counting techniques. He was the first person to overcome and beat the machines in the casinos of Las Vegas. Now, his techniques of counting cards are popularly referred to as “wonging” all over the globe.
Arnold Snyder, another member of the prestigious club, is known for his contribution on the technique of penetration. He has also contributed on several other aspects of the game. However, he has not published many of his writings as he believes in letting the players play the game and learn through it instead of applying the already proven strategies and winning.
Tommy Hyland had started playing blackjack professionally while he was still in college. This professional player has played the game for more than 25 years and is one of the most successful players in the world.
In the year 2004, Max Rubin was made a member of this prestigious club. He wrote the book “Comp City” which showed the players how to beat the Las Vegas blackjack tables without the need to master the technique of card counting.
Some of the other people in the Blackjack Hall of Fame are Julian Brown, Lawrence Revere, James Grosjean and Keith Taft.
